New batch of $1,400 stimulus checks includes ‘plus-up’ payments

A third batch of $1,400 stimulus checks has been sent, which this time includes “plus-up” payments for people who are eligible for more money now that their 2020 tax returns have been processed.

The latest payments bring the total number of checks issued to more than 130 million, representing a total of about $335 billion, according to the IRS.

The third batch included more than 4 million payments worth more than $10 billion. Those payments had an official payment date of March 31, but could have been received earlier, according to the tax agency.

With personal catcher back, Yankees ace Gerrit Cole fans 13 in seven innings of victory over Orioles

Gerrit Cole got his personal catcher back on Tuesday night. And coincidence or not, he threw one of his best games as a Yankee.

With Kyle Higashioka behind the plate instead of Gary Sanchez, Cole matched his Yankees high with 13 strikeouts in seven shutout innings in a 7-2 victory over the Orioles at Yankee Stadium.

Cole, who hit 101 miles per hour with his fastball, recorded seven outs in a row via strikeout in a 10-batter span from the second through the fourth innings.

He also finished with a flourish, retiring the final 12 batters he faced. Cole ended

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Insurance Commissioner Colin Hayashida is encouraging Hawaii residents to take advantage of new health insurance savings through the American Rescue Plan.

President Joe Biden recently announced the extension of a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) for Marketplace coverage until August 15.

Finance firm leases Las Colinas office space

The consumer finance firm Cottonwood Financial Administrative Services has leased a big block of office space in Irving.

The company is taking almost 40,000 square feet at 2120 W. Walnut Hill Lane in Las Colinas.

The new space is in the three-building Cottonwood Office Center, which once housed offices of Liberty Mutual Insurance.

The lease is the second recent transaction in the office campus. Medpace Inc., a clinical research organization, has taken more than 47,000 square feet in the buildings.
