A Lake County Facilities Operations employee was injured after crashing his work truck all the way into a car repair business in Libertyville Wednesday afternoon.

The Libertyville Police Department and Libertyville Fire Department responded around 12:17 p.m. Wednesday to the AAMCO Transmissions and Total Car Care, 1406 North Milwaukee Avenue.

Libertyville Police Department Lt. Matt Goze said officers received a call for a pickup truck that had driven into the business.

Officers arrived and located the truck — a Lake County municipal vehicle — which was occupied by the driver. The vehicle was completely inside the building.

The driver was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with minor injuries.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the vehicle was a Lake County Facilities Operation vehicle. The Facilities Division of the Lake County government is responsible for the operation and maintenance of county-owned buildings.

No one inside the business was injured or struck by the vehicle, Goze said. The crash is still under investigation.

It is unclear how much damage the business sustained in the incident.
