Small business owners in Wichita working together to stay open

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Wichita business owners are coming together to try and make sure they don’t have to close their doors again. The group is called Shop Safe Wichita and they are trying to make sure the city does not go back in restrictions in any way. The organizer says the pledge is about keeping their stores clean, and encouraging people to shop local.

Man demanded sex, held woman at knifepoint at SE Wichita business

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A court document released Thursday (April 1) details the series of events that led to numerous charges against a registered offender in the March 14 rape and beating of a woman at a southeast Wichita business.

Sedgwick County Jail booking records show charges against 33-year-old Arden Van Horn include counts of rape, aggravated battery and kidnapping. A little before 4 p.m., the affidavit said police responded to a southeast Wichita massage businesses regarding a welfare check involving a woman who said a man was threatening to kill her and was holding a knife to her throat.

Convicted felon arrested after sexually assaulting woman at Wichita business on East Harry

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Wichita Police Department arrested a 32-year-old convicted felon after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at a business on East Harry.

Arden Van Horn of Wichita was booked on aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery strangulation, aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated sodomy, two counts of rape, obstruct, aggravated escape custody, battery, and criminal damage to property stemming.

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) – A WEST WICHITA BUSINESS HAD A VISITOR EARLIER THIS WEEK. A DEER DECIDED TO JUMP THROUGH THE GLASS WINDOW, causing all kinds of damage.

“You could say we had an extra visitor. Even the wildlife is coming to play at the barnyard,” Barnyard Indoor Playground owner Chloe Stodle said.

Crews fight to contain large fire at paper recycling business in SW. Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Update 6 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2021: What started as a grassfire at about 3 p.m. Monday spread quickly once it reached the property for International Paper, a recycling business in the 4300 block of West 29th Street South (near West Street and Southwest Boulevard) in southwest Wichita.

The Wichita Fire Department said embers from the grassfire did not hit the building for the business, but recyclables outside caught fire and spread quickly with the strong wind. The fire reached the fence line of a nearby mobile home park, but no property damage was reported. There
